Can i have a cat if i have children?

Unfortunetly couples which are expecting a child oftenly abandon theri pets. Lots of these couples head a cat years before they planed to expand their familly. But in most cases you can sucessfully arrange for child and the cat to like eachother. A couple usualy stars preparing for baby as fast as the pregnancy is confirmed. It also is when you should start preparing your pet for new member of the family.

And how will the cat react on new family member?

A more timid cat which is attached and dependent to their family members, but when forigin people come it becomes shy will probably be jealous on baby. She wll start to mark arround a house to try cover scent of child with urine. Whith that kind of cat you must take care of of making her more independent of their owners. Mentally strong cat will also be little affected but she will happily join you in taking care of a baby if of course we let it. It is completley different with independent cats who takes livin with you like being in hotel. This kind of cat will act like there is no kid as lon as the "hotel services"  ramain good. On other side some cats will become protective and wll think of it as her "own child" which need protection. You can forget all the scary stories about cats stroking kids, stretching them... usually cat has nothing to do with it, they were just at the wrong time on the wrong place. but make sure you go to vet who will tell you which infectious diseases which can affect an unborned child. You can avoid diseases with no any bigger problems with good higiene of cat toilet. The most important is dthat cat gets regulary vaccinated and that she regulary gets medicine against internal parasites.

Before child comes o the world you must teach the cat some new rules. You must do it gradually. Allow her smell childs buggy and baby bad but do not let her get in the buggy or in bed. You must let her investigate kids room before it's borned becouseshe probably won't be allowed to get in after it's borned. YYou also must gradually lowerize the time you spend with your cat becouse child will take most of it. It would be best to spend time with cat in the evening when kid will alredy be sleeping. If someone coms for visit dont close the cat in a room let her spend some time with your friends otherwise she will feel pushed away. But after you stop dealing with cat you MUST clean your hands.
